World’s Most Efficient Solar Cells from Sanyo
Yesterday we reported that Sharp willing to invest 180 million U.S. dollars into a new facility near Osaka, to mass-produce solar cells. And now, just 24 hours later we still have a further positive news from the front of green energy: Sanyo announced today mass production start of a new type of solar cells, too.
What is interesting is that (by Sanyo), boast of their so-called HIT cells have the world’s highest efficiency of 21.6% cell (Sharp models can “only” about 17% conversion of sunlight into electricity). It is worth noting that in September showed a Sharp solar cell with 42.1% efficiency, even – but that’s still only a prototype.
Sanyo HIT-N240SE10 (240W, module efficiency: 19%) was prepared by the redesign of the tabs and with anti-reflective glass. The company plans to begin sales in Europe in February next year as well as ZVOX Mini Surround Sound System.
