Panasonic DVD-LS86 Review

As gadget categories go, the portable DVD player a more mass-produced site with lots of no-name brands for $ 100 or less. In terms of performance, the DVD-LS86 works well. We were not overly impressed with the video quality – we’d have to be compared to label as only average, we have tested with the other players. We were glad to see that the LS86 had no problem with our DivX-encoded video files, MPEG4 videos, MP3 and WMA audio files and JPEG photos. However, you need all these files to a disc (DVD-R, DVD-RAM or CD-R), burn, Panasonic has had a USB port or flash card reader, the digital file support would have been more attractive and convenient. Sound quality from the two speakers on board was good, but as with all mobile devices, you will probably using headphones in most situations likely to arise.

The battery rests below the screen hinge, and does not protrude excessively from the player’s body. Panasonic claims a full 13 hours of playback on a normal 7 hours free of charge. But in two separate tests, the battery is not more than 9 hours of DVD playback (you can get a better performance when just DivX playback, however) last. So we’ll Panasonic overly optimistic advertising thing – but admit that 9 hours of battery life is about the best we have seen to date. (It is worth noting that the step down model, the Panasonic DVD-LS83 is essentially the same model that shaved about four ounces weight by a less robust battery rated for 6 hours.)

A few design and functionality reservations aside, the Panasonic DVD-LS86 portable DVD an all around good player. His unconventional width may deter some buyers who are looking for ultimate portability, while some may assert the screen hinge is unusual. The LS86 has a decent amount of praise playable file formats, we want it came with a USB or Flash card reader as well. Some find the asking price of $ 200 a bit expensive, especially with other comparable players on the market (some with even more features such as the Philips DCP851 iPod compatible) price even lower. But if you look seriously for a long playing time, should be the Panasonic DVD-LS86 high on your list.
