First USB 3.0 drive with RAID from LaCie
Venturing into relatively new territory released connect LaCie 2big USB 3.0 external hard drive as the first two RAID and the faster USB interface. The two-drive enclosure can run JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) or in a RAID 1 mirror for security, but is distinguished, if they put in a RAID 0 stripe for speed. At a height of 205MB per second, is the strip faster than even a FireWire 800 or eSATA drive, and can produce large amounts of data to be transferred in record time as well as Klipsch CS-500 2.1 Home Theater System; LaCie demands of a dual-layer 50GB Blu-ray in less than five minutes could copy.
Following suit with most USB 3.0 peripherals, the 2big is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and will run at its slow speeds with older hardware. The choice of the mirror is the ability to secure external hard drive LaCie backup on both Macs and Windows PCs. Both drives are modular and can be replaced with generic substitutes, if needed to increase capacity or if a drive fails.
Two capacities are available from the start, including a 2 TB version for $ 350 and a 4TB model at $ 580. Both should be ready today and d2 is the USB 3.0, a single drive unit with speeds of up to 130MB per second and a capacity of either TB or 2 TB for $ 150 to $ 250.
