Newdual-boot Android, Windows-based tablet from Viewsonic
ViewSonic full today at the IFA in many details about its dual-boot ViewPad tablet. Now called the ViewPad 100, the 10-inch slate is running on a 1.66GHz Atom and uses either Windows 7 or the old now Android 1.6; both sides seem to use a reference design, but also supports multi-touch as well as Klipsch HD 300 Theater System. It uses only a 16 GB solid-state drive, but a SDHC card slot provides most of the bulk storage.
Many of the other figures are comparable with those of a current netbooks. The ViewPad outputs at a native 1024×600 display and has 1GB of DDR3 memory. At the beginning of the Android features like Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi, it has more traditional netbook expansion, two USB ports, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and a VGA video output brings.
The ViewPad came to the UK for 549 ($ 848) and there will be ship as well as Europe in October. A U.S. launch was not detailed, although most ViewSonic devices to make their way to North America.
