Matrox add-on gives Mac video editors HDMI, SDI
That evening, a new portable Matrox breakout box, which was aimed specifically at Mac users on a professional level editing with Final Cut Studio. The MXO2 LE takes SDI, component, RCA, and 10-bit video input from HDMI cameras or other sources and puts them in the formats now available Color, Final Cut Pro and other applications in the suite, such as Apple’s in – house ProRes 4: 2:2 HQ format.
It can also with non-Apple software such as After Effects and uses an XLR power input, making it friendly to a MacBook Pro to a video shoot, where XLR may be more common than sockets.
It also supports genlock inputs and outputs in the same formats it takes in, with color calibration in both directions.
An optional component with MAX Matrox ‘technique gives the MXO2 LE processing, the company claims that video with H.264 at transcode faster than real time. It can address up to 2K resolutions (more than HD) integrates directly with Compressor and Final Cut Studio tool or Telestream’s Episode. Programs begin in October. Either has the opportunity to ExpressCard 34 Adapter (for the current 17-inch MacBook Pro and older 15-inch units) or a PCI adapter for the Mac Pro workstations.
