Altec intros 200W PC speakers, iPod boombox
Altec Lansing on Thursday announced the release of its new ultra-Expressionist computer speaker system from two multi-driver desktop speakers and a subwoofer, and the MIX boombox, which sports a built-in iPod dock. The Expressionist Ultra 200W RMS speakers have shared power of each amplifier between the two 3-inch drivers, 1-inch Neodymium dome tweeter and a 6.5-inch subwoofer.
The speakers can be adjusted the treble and bass through a controller, and there are both aux and RCA connectors to adapt to other sources. A headphone jack is also included.
The MIX Boombox iPods and iPhones can place thanks to its dock connector, Apple and other brands as well as other audio player through its two 3.5-mm auxiliary input jacks. There’s also an FM tuner, and users can individually tailor the sound, thanks to a seven-band equalizer.
Like classic boomboxes, users can make their music away from the wall outlet thanks to their eight D batteries for 30 hours operation and incorporate heavy duty treatment. Sound is played through a 5.25-inch side-firing subwoofer, two 3-inch midranges and two 1-inch polypropylene cone tweeter.
The mixture is shielded to prevent the known GSM “buzz” of it, an iPhone and work without recourse to airplane mode as a result. An included remote control itself can be stored in the boombox, and has a built-in carabiner clip so that it is not lost.
The Expressionist Ultra-speaker system and boombox MIX already shipping.
