Blu-ray turns to VOD with new app

A German Blu-ray production studio has finally shown, from a BD-Live application, which we all can be happy about – VOD on your profile 2.0 Blu-ray player.Created by Enteractive, and more recently in advance of the Media-Tech Fair in Frankfurt, the new “Video Active” Blu-ray discs allow users to rent movie content directly from their Blu-ray machine.

The way it works is actually quite simple. Enteractive the BD-Live enabled discs synch your BD player with a rental service through the Internet via the Disc Java software and your player Java-enabled operating system.

When you’re done, you can film content, as you usually on your Blu-ray player. Enteractive hopes that the new discs show the true potential of the Blu-ray.
